Master Promissory Note & Entrance Counseling

In order to receive a Federal Direct Student loan at West Virginia University Tech, the federal government requires you to complete a Master Promissory Note (MPN) . To do this, you must meet the following criteria:

1. Admitted or currently attending West Virginia University Tech.

2. Applied for federal financial aid through the FAFSA form and West Virginia University Tech has received the results. You will need to use your Federal PIN number for signing your Master Promissory Note, so be sure to have your number available before you complete the Master Promissory Note online. If you do not have a PIN number, you may request a federal FAFSA PIN online.

3. Your financial aid application has been reviewed by West Virginia University Tech Financial Aid Office and a Financial Aid Award has been sent to you for the academic year indicating eligibility for a Federal Direct Loan.

4. All first-time borrowers at West Virginia University Tech must complete loan entrance counseling online (instructions below), in addition to an MPN, before a Direct Loan can be certified.
